DBS Checks for Occupational Therapists

Self-employed occupational therapists in England and Wales can now apply for an Enhanced DBS check online.

What Is a DBS Check for Occupational Therapists?

A DBS check is a criminal record check. For occupational therapists, it is required for working with vulnerable adults and children in healthcare, social care, and educational settings. The HCPC requires registrants to declare convictions, but a DBS check provides independent verification for employers and clients.

Most self-employed OTs need an Enhanced DBS check with the appropriate Barred List check.
